Regular exam is very important for maintaining your oral health. During your regular exam, we will:

Regular exam usually takes about 45 minutes. It includes thorough teeth cleaning, during this procedure we clean, polish, and remove any tartar or plaque that have built up around the tooth’s surface. Regular exam and cleaning should be performed every six months.

Usually dental restorations or fillings may include Silver Amalgam, gold, porcelain, or composite. We do not give Amalgam fillings in our practice. Other dental fillings include ceramic and plastic compounds that mimic the appearance of natural teeth.

There are two different procedures of fillings: direct and indirect. Direct fillings are placed directly into a prepared cavity. Indirect fillings generally require two or more visits. We do the indirect fillings with the help of CAD/CAM. These fillings include inlays, and veneers fabricated with ceramics or composites.

There are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth. Sometimes a baby tooth has improper shape or long roots that prevent it from falling out on its own and the tooth must be removed to allow the permanent tooth to erupt. At other times, a tooth may be so much decayed that it is not restorable, so your dentist may recommend removal and replacement with a bridge or implant. Infection, orthodontic correction, or problems with a wisdom tooth can also require removal of a tooth.

In order to extract a tooth, your dentist must expand the socket and separate the tooth from the ligaments holding it in place. While this procedure is typically very quick, it is important to inform us any concerns or preferences for sedation.

Wisdom teeth are molars found in the very back of your mouth. They usually appear in the late teens or early twenties but may become impacted (fail to erupt) due to lack of room in the jaw or angle of entry. When a wisdom tooth is impacted, it may need to be removed. If it is not removed, you may develop gum tenderness, swelling, or even severe pain. Impacted wisdom teeth that are partially or fully erupted tend to be quite difficult to clean and are susceptible to tooth decay, recurring infections, and even gum disease.

Wisdom teeth are typically removed in the late teens or early twenties because there is a greater chance that the roots have not fully formed and the bone surrounding the teeth is less dense. These two factors can make extraction easier as well as shorten the recovery time.

If you have a tooth with a diseased nerve, your tooth may be saved with a special dental procedure called “root canal treatment.” When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp tissue and can cause an infection in to the nerve. If left untreated, an abscess may form. If the infected tissue is not removed, pain and swelling can result. This can not only injure your jawbones, but it is also detrimental to your overall health.

Root canal treatment involves one to two visits. During treatment, your general dentist removes the affected tissue. Next, the interior of the tooth will be cleaned and sealed. Finally, the tooth is filled with a dental composite.

If your tooth has extensive decay, the dentist may suggest placing a crown to strengthen and protect the tooth from breaking. As long as you continue to care for your teeth and gums with regular brushing, flossing, and check-ups, your restored tooth can last a lifetime.

White lesions are the white spots seen on few or all the teeth. These white spots are developed due to insufficient mineralisation of the enamel while tooth enamel is being formed. These spots/lesions are weak part of the enamel, which can easily get decayed or chipped. The treatment of white lesions may take one or few visits and does not need any local anaesthesia.

Tooth whitening may be an effective way of lightening the existing colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. Although it may not make your teeth completely white, but it will lighten the existing colour.

Everyone has different colour of hair and skin, so do our teeth. Very few people have brilliant-white teeth. Our teeth can also become more discoloured, as we get older.

Teeth can also get stained on the surface by food and drinks such as tea, coffee, red wine and blackcurrant. Smoking can also stain teeth. ‘Calculus' or tartar can also affect the colour of the teeth. Some people may have staining inside the tooth surface, which can be caused by certain antibiotics. Sometimes tiny cracks in the teeth can also take up stains.

Veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from tooth-colored materials, such as porcelain. They are designed to cover the front side of your teeth. To prepare for veneers, your dentist will use the CAD/CAM technology to create your veneers. Before placing your new veneer, your dentist may need to prepare your tooth conservatively to achieve the desired aesthetic result.

When your veneers are placed, you’ll be pleased to see that they look like your natural teeth.

While they are stain-resistant, we may recommend you avoid coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco to maintain the beauty of your new smile.

Crowns are used to improve your tooth’s shape or to strengthen a tooth. Crowns are most often used for teeth that are broken, worn, or have large portions destroyed by tooth decay.

A crown is a “cap” cemented onto an existing tooth that usually covers the portion of your tooth above the gum. Actually, the crown becomes your tooth’s new outer surface. Crowns can be made of porcelain, metal, or both. Porcelain crowns are most often preferred because they mimic the translucency of natural teeth and are very strong.

Crowns or onlays (partial crowns) are needed when there is insufficient tooth strength to hold a filling. Unlike fillings, which apply the restorative material directly into your mouth, a crown is fabricated away from your mouth. A bridge is used to replace missing teeth. It is fixed on to the adjacent teeth either side of the gap.

It is replacement of your missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or two teeth may have been missing. A bridge can be made from gold, alloys, porcelain, or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth for support.

The success of any bridge depends on its foundation — the other teeth, gums, or bone to which it is attached. Therefore, it’s very important to keep your existing teeth, gums, and jaw healthy and strong.

Dentures are natural-looking replacement teeth that are removable. There are two types of dentures: full and partial. Full dentures are given to patients when all the natural teeth have been removed/missing. Partial dentures replace your one or more missing teeth and are made to fill in where permanent teeth have been removed.

Dentures can be either "conventional" or "immediate." Immediate dentures are made before removal of your teeth and are placed in your mouth immediately after the extraction.

If you are missing teeth, it is crucial to replace them. Without all your teeth, chewing and eating can destabilize your bite and cause you discomfort. When teeth are missing, your mouth can shift and even cause your face to look older. Implants are a great way to replace your missing teeth. If properly maintained, they can last a lifetime!

An implant is a new tooth made of metal and porcelain that looks just like your natural tooth. It’s composed of two main parts: one is the titanium implant body that takes the place of the missing root, and the other is the tooth-coloured crown that is cemented on top of the implant. With implant treatment, you can eat and smile confidently without any problems.

Full mouth reconstruction refers to rebuilding and/or replacing all of the teeth in a patient’s mouth. Full mouth reconstructions combine aesthetics with the science of restorative dentistry to improve the health, function, and beauty of the mouth.

There are many people who have dental problems throughout their mouths that must be treated comprehensively with a vision of a result that improves both function and aesthetics. These patients may exhibit multiple missing teeth, numerous teeth with large fillings that are failing or exhibiting decay, cracked or broken teeth, or badly worn teeth due to bruxism (teeth grinding) or other habits.

People who were born with conditions such as Ectodermal Dysplasia, Amelogenesis, or Dentinogenisis Imperfecta will need extensive restoration of their teeth.
